Is it good to shut your pump off every time you feed? I have a 75 drilled and it seems like when I shut my pump off I get air in the pipe.

Air from the pump in a sump? But, alot of people shut their pumps off then restart with no issues. Bubbles should blow right out of the line.

air in the pipe is a good thing, it prevents a siphon that would be disasterous. I shut off ALL my pumps 10 mins 2 times a day every day for feeding the fish, and an hour every other day to feed the corals, and once a week or so for a 1-2 hour maintnence session.

I shut down the pumps on my frag tank when I feed, but not my 90g and 60 cube. Those guys LOVE to chase the food around, and there's never any left after 2 minutes. Don't want them getting lazy on me. I do shut the pumps off during maintenance, though.

I have my main pump hooked upto my apex . Pump ,MP 10`s ,skimmer and ATO all shut down . After 1o min pump and MP10`s turns on then 5 min later skimmer comes on then after 2min ATO comes ON .
10 min also gives me plenty of time to do water changes and changing filter pads .

I just shut off the return pump so most of it doesn't end up going down the drain. This way the fish can get to it. I leave on the powerheads so it get's moved around. I have a couple of fish that don't like to come out and feed with everyone else.

We leave the pump on. Remember,if anyone has a tank like ours there is a lot of hungry life in the refugium. Its fun to watch uneaten food go over the overflow, thru the baffles in the fuge and start a microlife feeding frenzy.

I don't use a sump,,, but I do make my skimmer over flow manually to get the gunk out before shutting in off for feeding, and ya i turn off ever thin for about 15 min
