Thought this might be a good topic. Searched and couldn’t find a previous thread.

My shy guy is my Royal Gramma. Always comes out for food, but really never leaves his home of caves and tunnels.

I haven’t the opportunity for a good picture yet

My royal gramma was shy and hid a lot the first 2-3 weeks but after is always out and about, although it’s always the first to bed. I’ve had he/she for 15 months.

This will differ based on types of fish and types of tanks. I have many tanks and unusual fishlike Harlequin tusk and dwarf angels. Shyest would be Naso tang and a couple of my yellow tangs

My scissortail dartfish is very easily spooked, my sharknose goby is also a little shy but he is definitely more curious of me and likes to show off and dig around in the sand for me. My clowns are most definitely not shy.

I agree with you. I figured In my case a mixed reef IM15. Tank size is a major factor.

Ironically my shyest fish is also my most aggro one. Splendid Dottyback. Hides in the rocks mostly except to give chase, mainly to the bangaii.

Edit. Sorry

Exquisite firefish. Made a cave and stays there till the flow turns off for food. When I'm running late for feeding though, he comes out to say 'hi, where's my dinner?' :~)

How is your Bengaii? Shy also or pretty social?

My marine beta for sure. Comes out when he's really hungry. Avoids eating if any fish looks at him.

My royal gramma charges and bites hand about anytime I am on the left side of my 180. He's not shy and kinda mean.

Dottyback behaviour is pretty interesting; they seem to either be on display all the time, or very cryptic. I never see my yellow dottyback (now transitioning to an "overripe banana dottyback") except during feeding time, and don't see my elongate dottyback for weeks at a time.

He will beg for food when I’m at the tank along with the clowns. By begging I mean come out and look like it’s saying “I’m here feed me” then dart back in the rocks.
