I know that there have been threads about this, but I'm hoping for answers directly.

I am wondering if I should buy the sicce 1.5 pump and put a dual nozzle 1/2" RFG on it. This would be the only flow maker that I would have in my tank, I would get rid of my powerhead and just have this, to any knowledgeable reefers out there, is this a good Idea? Or should I pair this with a powerhead?

FYI, I have 11 corals of mixed species and types, along with 2 clowns and a goby- pistol shrimp pair

As always, thanks for any helpful info!

wow, u got a lot of livestock for a small tank! cool that u could pull it off, I would go with this: I have it in my 11.3 gal and its great, its also adjustable!

theres not really a one way to tell what would be best for you. just having the two RFG could work for you but it all depends on what corals and your rock scape and positioning to see whats best for your tank.

Sicce pumps are good, I have used them through the years as for your flow you could try it and if its not enough add the powerhead back. Trial and error just do it at a time you can pay close attention to the tank. Once you set it up feed the tank and watch your flow make needed changes.

Good luck

The only thing I'd be worried about is the overflow being able to handle that much turnover. Hopefully someone with an evo can chime in

I have a AIO peninsula tank that's a little bigger but similar and anything above 200ish gph and the overflow starts getting fully submerged.

They are indeed. I've never owned one, but I'm gonna outfit my 155g with two DC Syncras for returns and another for UV. I did my due diligence in terms of research and these came up as among the best.

yeah I was thinking to hear something like this

I hope that doesn't happen, but I will tell you what happens

The evo tanks are capable of handling a lot of flow through their overflow section - especially if it's not blocked. I wouldn't recommend keeping the original foam block filter setup in there if you're still using it.

I got this one

It pushes out 210 GPH and it's not quite enough to fully power two RFG nozzles, which is why I backed down to 1 RFG and one flat nozzle. The Sicce 1.5 pushes 357 GPH - and 250-300 GPH is the recommended minimum for a dual RFG nozzle setup - so it should do great honestly, maybe even alone.

thank you, what would you recommend to put in the first and second chamber for filtration?
