The title kind of lays it out... I'm looking to plumb my 80 gallon lagoon style tank (48x24x16) using a 3/4 return line feeding into a 3/4 inch seaswirl.

Before I finalize these plans I want to get some opinions on the setup. Anyone use a seaswirl before? What did you have feeding it?

The return line will come up and over the corner of the tank, the overflow is going to be plumbed in a Herbie style.

I'm not overly worried about "10x turnover in the sump" I have a decent number of powerheads that I can add to the tank for the remaining amount of required flow.

Again... just general thoughts or opinions?

Sounds like a good plan to me.
I've used sea swirls in the past and they work great.

thanks for the feedback! I use a sicce 4.0 currently in my 93 build and the return is great with what would equate an extra foot of head pressure. I assumed the loss between the extra head for my current build and the restriction in the seaswirl would be similar.

I would add a valve to the return, just to make sure you are happy with the flow through the sea swirl.
Maybe a true union valve.
