Hello. I recently bought my tank, which is an IM Nuvo 30l (so 30 gallons). The owner said he had upgraded the pump, but I actually believe the one he installed is actually a downgrade sicce micra plus (which may make sense since he had been using the tank to breed smaller freshwater fish). A buddy of mine sold me his old IM 20 stock pump for super cheap and said it would be good to help pump my saltwater in when doing waterchanges, but now I'm debating on switching it out for the sicce.
The sicce micra plus stats are: 7 watts, 158 gph
The IM 20 stock pump stats are: 11 watts, 211 gph
I hear that the IM stock pumps actually run fairly noisy. Eventually, I will likely purchase a good pump once I have the money for it but in the meantime, should I swap the sicce and use the IM 20 stock instead?
I know theres a difference of opinion on whether to go higher or lower with pumps. I'm still new to saltwater and dont have anything in the tank as it only just finished cycling but will eventually plan on putting in mainly coral frags and pair of clowns and watchman goby/pistol shrimp. Any recommendations? Also, any good recommendations for future pump upgraded for this tank?
Thanks
