I have two barb attachments for this pump for soft plumbing. One fits and one doesn't. How do I get the bigger one to fit?

I'm using 1" pvc for my plumbing so should I use the bigger barb attachment? I also need a barb attachment for the end of the pvc plumbing. Do they make a barb I can slip right inside the 1" pvc or will I have to use a coupler to attach it?

Edit:
I realized the bigger barb attaches to the intake and has nothing to do with the out put part so that question no longer needs answering lol.

You should be able to get a threaded male pvc adapter from the hardware store that will work I’m not sure if you would use the barb for the pvc.

+1 you need a thread-to-slip adapter. Take your pump to the hardware store and fit the adapter to the threads there.

Are you planning on using flexible PVC between your hard plumbing and your pump to reduce vibration or just hard plumbing straight to the pump? If you're planning on using flex PVC or silicone tubing you will only need a slip to barb fitting (This will slide over the solid PVC) and use the stock fitting for the pump. if you're just hard plumbing than follow advice above and use a thread to slip adapter (Once again your red pvc will slide into this fitting), you will not find a fitting that will slide into the red PVC just so you won't go crazy looking for one. On a side note, what size is the fitting coming out of the pump? it looks like 3/4" if I'm not mistaken

You guys are lucky to have those kinds of adapter's available in the hardware stores, I had to order all mine online lol And now I have like 4 boxes of adapters and fittings cause at the time I wasn't 100% sure what I needed so I just ordered a little bit of everything

I ended up ordered a 1" spigot x barb so that should work. The lower part of the barb on the return pump is actually 1" also.

A spigot fitting is the same size as your 1" pipe so you will need a 1" coupler fitting as well for that to work....

Hmmm, I see my mistake now lol. I'm not very good with this plumbing thing. I'm surprised I've made it this far.

The first picture is a 1/2" spigot adapter (Next to 1/2" piece of pipe), these are designed to fit into 1/2" fittings as pictured below and the third is a picture of a slip x barb fitting to show you the differences. It took me a while to figure it all out, along with a few different orders lol

If you have an extra 1" union fitting kicking around you could always use that and slide your spigot fitting into it. would make for Super easy pump removal for maintenance. I myself hate trying to pull apart the soft plumbing so anything to make it easier lol

These should work right? The barb would screw on to the adapter. And I can slip the pipe inside of the adapter, correct?

I wish this were the case. Instead you end up grabbing an extra couple of these or those to ensure you have enough. I now have 3 Cat liter Buckets full of PVC parts.....

Best thing would be to bring your pump pvc pipe and others fitting a you already have to the hardware store and fit it all together there. My local ace hardware always allows me to bring parts and what not in and they are 100% helpful with hooking me up with what I need when I’m in doubt.
