Can anyone tell me what, why and how my anenome went from picture one to picture two in a month?
I put it into my tank a month ago. It was active. Moving around the tank. I test every week and everything was fine.

We’ll here’s a few things, need your parameters of what you consider fine, also a moving and active anemone doesn’t necessarily mean they’re doing well. An unhappy anemone will move to try to find a spot it likes and if it keeps moving something must be making them unhappy. Also what’s your lighting like? These need a good par.

I don’t have a par meter so I couldn’t tell you exactly what the par is but the lighting does well for the other corals. As far as my levels go the only one that wasn’t what where it should be is KH. It registered a 7 on the API scale just before a water change. Then it went up to 9/10 so I don’t see what that could have done. I use API tests kits. My ammonia, nitrate and nitrite are all close to zero. My magnesium is 1500ppm and my temp is 79.

API are known to give a false reading in tests but with these guys ammonia should be undetectable. The Alk could’ve gotten bumped up because some salts have more alkalinity than others so that’s probably why it jumped. Also nems like “dirty” water with nitrates so keeping them close to 0 won’t keep them so happy. How old is the system?

The system is about 6 months old. I’ve used the same water from my LFS since the beginning.
