Sick Atlantic blue Tang in Qt

Hello all,

I got a atl blue Tang Tuesday for the local lfs. Looked good and was eating and swimming. He has been in Qt eating and swimming very actively. Now I notice a black spot in his side and am a little worried he's ok. There is nothing in the tank in terms of treatments. Here are a couple of pics of what I am seeing . Any help would be appreciated.

It's just discolored. Kind of look swirly

It has spread to his nose and a little on his underneath.

He will stay right by the air bubble for some time like he is letting the bubbles go into his gills or something. He then swims around and he is still eating well. Anyone have any ideas?

The spot appears to be viral, but also can be a result of injury or even a sting from anemone or coral.

That species commonly shows bruises as dark marks. Depending on how serious the underlying tissue damage is, it may or may not be an issue. Either way, there isn't anything to be done except let time takes its course.

You should begin a proactive quarantine process on this fish as they are prone to flukes and ich. Also, be sure to monitor the ammonia level closely.

Thank you. He has been in Qt as soon as I brought him home. Never been in the display so he hasn't been by an anemone or coral. Only some pvc pipe to hide in and two bubblers in the qt tank with water at 1.021. should I dose anything in there?
