Not sure if my male blonde naso has ich or velvet, can you please help me with what you think it is and best treatment? Thank you in advance for the help!

Any chance of a photo with white lights to better visualize? What's this tang's history? Is he in a QT? DT?

He is in the DT, I will try to get some better pictures. I’m going to put him in qt

hard for me to see on my phone. Luckily the treatment for ich and velvet are pretty much identical.
  • Remove fish from display tank if it is in there
  • place in qt
  • treat with copper for 30 days
  • if you believe it is velvet freshwater dips can provide some relief
    • remember during freshwater water dips you want to bring the ph up with something like seachem buffer
  • If the fish was in your main tank you will want to leave it fallow for a period of at least six weeks
You can also treat your display tank with copper if all the rock, sand, and inverts are removed.

Was he quarantined to begin with?
No he is the the first fish I have had in the tank, I’ve had him for around 3 weeks and just noticed some flashing and now little white spots

also if a fish is swimming directly into the powerhead like in the picture I believe that is a symptom of velvet if i remember correctly

Should I remove the 2 clowns I have also and treat even with no signs

Good advice above.

Yes, you need to remove all fish and leave the system fishless for 6 weeks for velvet, and 76 days if you want to eliminate ich as well.

Here is a good link on a solid QT process. Feel free to browse the stickies in the disease forum for additional info.

Yes looks and symptoms sound like velvet. Time to act fast.

I prefer cupramine myself. FWD First to provide temporary relief.

Read this article on how to proper handle QT and administer cupramine and conduct a FWD.
