I got my clowns over 2 months ago and have been battling internal parasites ever since. The smaller one was always a picky eater and was so skinny I thought it would starve to death.
It was my first tank so I didn't QT (now I know better). After 2 week of having the clowns in the DT and not eating well (small one not at all) and displaying stringy white poop, I moved them to a QT tank to treat them. I needed to order meds from all over the world since the EU has strict regulations on most of the meds.
While the meds where shipping I used an herbal extract which seemed to help them to eat again. This went up and down for some weeks. When the meds where delivered (Api General Cure) I dosed it to the tank water and made a batch of medicated food. The smaller clown was eating a little from the medicated food and started to look better, so I had hope he would pull trough.
A little while back he stopped eating, acting lethargic and breathing heavily. Yesterday I found him stuck to the intake of the filter. The little guy was all exhausted and couldn't swim well and kept getting stuck on the intake of the filter. It was so sad to watch.
Now I had to euthanize him cause there was no way it would pull trough in my objective view. I felt so sad to kill him but also didn't want him to suffer anymore. I have tried for 2 months to get him back to health but it just wouldn't work. Is there anything else I could have done?
The bigger clownfish is still in the treatment tank but is not eating for more than a week now, medicated food/frozen/pellets i've tried it all. I'm now wondering if there is anything I can do to help the bigger one survive.
