My clownfish is swimming near the top upside down.

Anyone know what’s wrong?

Swim bladder issue or trapped air/gas.

what are you feeding ? How long have you had the clown?
I have had a pair of clowns for about a month. The other clown is fine. I feed frozen brine shrimp once a day

Normally see this in FReshwater fish . I would say swim bladder or constipation.

I would try feeding blanched , shelled peas (acts as a laxative) to up the fibre in the diet

Thanks I’ll try this. So he should recover?

Swim bladder is not always cureable

constipation - which is what I hope it is , should be resolved with more fibre in the diet .

if it’s swim bladder there are some options but they don’t always work .

try the peas/vegetable matter. It’s worth a shot

Though probably not the cause, frozen brine is not very nutritious. You need to feed a quality food. If you are feeding once per day, frozen brine is fine every 3rd or 4th day, but the other days feed a higher quality food (preferably frozen food).

What do you suggest? It may not actually be brine I’m just at work so I’m thinking that’s what it is.

variety is best .
get a quality flake/pellet
Some frozen
And mix it up . I like the spirulina brine , there’s pe Mysis ,

just want your clowns to have various opportunities to get their vitamins aminos and fats

If you just want to feed one other food, I recommend something like LRS Reef Frenzy or Rods Original blend as these have a mixture of foods. If you want to include variety, you can also add something like PE Mysis, fish eggs (various brands), etc, but I would still use LRS or Rods in the rotation.

Two things that may help get the fish's bowels moving;
You can dose the tank with plain USP epsom salts. 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Can re-dose once a day or two later.
Treating the tank with the antibiotic Kanaplex may help. One of the side effects can be diarrhea.

Update: Since last night he has been swimming at the bottom of the tank with very little movement. Essentially staying in one spot w/ heavy breathing.

Did you try any of the suggestions to potentially help with constipation?
Not yet. Did not have any peas at home. When I got home from work he was no longer at the top he was swimming in the back at the bottom so I thought maybe that was no longer it.

is it feeding? If not, I would still try the Kanoplex. If so, the peas might still be a good idea. Either way, I would go ahead and get some higher quality food as whatever fish you have will need it.

I bought LRS nano frenzy last night. He hasn’t ate since yesterday
