Yes, by combining Kanaplex + Metroplex. Which leads me to believe it is something bacterial in nature.

It's very possible that velvet was, originally a part of this at the beginning considering the behavioral symptoms. Moving them to a new sterile QT before starting the antibiotics would be easy enough to play it safe. What do you think Humble?

Humblefish, that mystery disease looks like a possible match!
I have Metroplex and I just purchased kanaplex from amazon it will arrive tomorrow.
As soon as my copper is undetected can I immediately start Metroplex treatment?
Also this is my only quarantine tank unfortunately.

Brew12 I do think you are right with thinking it was velvet originally. What I am dealing with now does not look like the original issue.

Velvet can really open a fish up to infection. My biggest concern is that stopping the copper too early may not completely break the velvet cycle.

I wonder what the others think about maintaining copper and using Focus to bind the antibiotics to food?

This is my own opinion/experience. I don't think I ever had velvet because I seen friend's tanks that crash hard within 3-4 days. Velvet is NASTY and kills everything in sight within less than a week. To me they look like open sores. Fish scale/skin when healing can get a white head. Tangs are known to also carry Flukes and flukes can leave a nasty red or white mark after they fall off. Here is a video. I would try a dip and see if anything falls/flake off. I'm against fresh water dips but that is one solution, other is medication dip for flukes.

You can mix copper + Metroplex + Kanaplex. How long has the copper been at therapeutic levels? Should be 30 days if using just one QT.

As humble mentioned, you can combine copper with the other two meds just fine. Another option, if you'd prefer to end the copper treatment now, is to put the fish into a bucket while you clean and sterilize the QT. You can use a fan to speed up the process. I also wouldn't feed the antibiotics as that takes even longer than normal to start working.

Just wanted to thank everyone for input on trying to beat this. To recap I originally dosed ATI super ich cure and did not get good results. Next I dosed Seachems cupramine and cut the dose at 14days due to these nasty infected areas on my hipo tang. Third try was to dose a combination of Metroplex and Kanaplex together (two times) and this cured the large bumps on the tang however he still had some spots that appeared to be a parasite of sorts on him. So, for my fourth attempt I dosed Prazipro twice and as of now both of my remaining fish seem to be free of anything on them. Being that I cut the cupramine short at 14 days should I treat the fish once again or just continue to monitor for the remaining quarantine time?
Thanks!

I would probably run the fish back through Cupramine for 30 consecutive days, just for good measure.

Great news!!

Update.
Well from Monday to Friday I began dosing cupramine and got to the correct level yesterday. Unfortunately as of today I lost my sixline wrase. No clue what went wrong.
Down to my last fish now. This has been almost a complete disaster..

Going to add to this.
My tang was a very socially dependent fish. He lost his BFF 2 months ago and depended on attention from the wrasse I think mainly because the wrasse was the last fish. So now I do not think he will do well alone and probably stress himself to death.
What are my options?
Introduce a new fish to the quarantine?
Find him a new home ASAP?
Leave him alone and roll the dice? (this makes me feel guilty)
Thanks for input..

@3mm3 I would keep the Hippo isolated and continue to QT. He may not be happy right now, but so long as he continues to eat he won't die from "stress".

+1 I wouldn't introduce any new fish to this one. Wait until he's out and well before getting him a new buddy.

Well good news because today is day 76! The hippo tang has survived so far and has gained some serious size in quarantine.
Should I add him day 77 or drag it out until the weekend? I'm taking a trip to the store to purchase some buddies for him on Saturday and definitely will have him out of quarantine before I get them.

I would go ahead & transfer him over now. This will allow time for you to tidy up the QT before your next fish purchases and be sure ich is gone from the DT.

Ahh good point. I may hold off on fish purchase until I know for sure.

Well been over three months from the date I put the tang back into the display. Figured I'd give a tang update to all that helped save his life. He is a very happy fish but it may be about time I purchased him some friends.
