Velvet is what I’m thinking it looks like. Is this a dt or in qt. Coppermine and metro is what I used two weeks ago. Lost my ebilli eyed angel and almost lost my cinimon clown (baby) and Shakespeare my indigo hamlet. Picasso my wrasse seemed fine never got a spot.

That’s what I thought, just wanted another opinion. Dt..... going into qt soon. That’s a bummer, I have a plan to try and save em.

Sorry you have a sick fish, on the bright side you found the right place.

Welcome to R2R! Great place, great people, and tons of great info here.

To me that definitely looks like velvet, but could be early brook.

Clowns a notorious for Brook as well. If I were you, I would treat the QT for Brook as well to be safe.

I would suggest that Brooklynella is the most likely culprit - in a pinch, always listen to Humblefish . . .

You've had great advice already, but I would add that it's likely that it has already spread to other fish, and you might be best advised to QT and treat _everybody_ according to the Brooklynella protocol linked above.

Ok great thanks!!! Yea i woke early this morning and I looked at the clown and he definitely has white dots on him. I will treat for brook and velvet.... is that ok?

Probably best to treat all tank inhabitants in a QT together.

Do you have only clowns? Or you are seeing white specs on other fish?

I have 2 clowns, 1 lemonpeel angel, 1 pajama cardinal, 1 firefish goby and no all other fish have zero spots.

When we say him I mean all of the fish

I see what you are saying now, sorry I was confused. You meant any fish you refer to is "him"

I would treat for brook first. Keep a close eye on all fish. As long as none of your other fish display any white spots or symptoms of velvet such as scratching, flashing, swimming into powerhead. If the clown improves and no other fish ever show symptoms then you know it was brook. If you start to see any of the above symptoms or the clown isn't improving, then I would start CP or Copper.

With that list I'd recommend a 29g+ qt. Bigger the better.
I'd recommend getting an hob filter like an aquaclear(which comes with a foam filter, biomax and carbon). Discard the carbon and soak the foam and biomax in a bottle of biospira overnight, or at least for a few hours. You'll want a heater, thermometer, and a powerhead or some airstones (better yet both). I'd start with dosing metroplex since the general consensus here is early brook. I wouldn't rush to throw both metro and copper at them, but I'd also buy some copper just in case.

Ok so as far as I can tell my clown just has little white raised spots on him, no mucus around the areas just raised white spots. Is this still early signs of brook? I just want to make sure before I make any medication purchases
