+1 ^^^ Sorry but from your description "dusty" and the death, rapid spots, 2 week time frame, I'm afraid your tank is infested with velvet parasites. You'll have to act fast to save the rest of the fish. Should assume they have all been attacked by the parasites.

Velvet Emergency protocol:

Freshwater dip

Immediately follow with: Bath in Ruby Reef Rally. This step has shown to greatly increase survival rates

Treat fish with either CP or copper. CP dosing will be at therapeutic levels immediately and that's the benefit of using it.
Copper requires a partial dosing a 1.00 ppm and within 24-48 hours of small doses to therapeutic level at 2.0 ppm.

Often bacterial infections set in from the parasite's damage and the treatments stress the fish's immune system. So dose with either Spectrogram or with Furan2 + Kanaplex + Metro for 10-14 days.
So spectrogram would be the same as furan2, kanallex and metro?

Not quite. Spectrogram is Nitrofuracine + Kanamycin

The "Trifecta" as we call it here on R2R is Furan2 +Kanaplex+Metroplex

As far as my DT, i am going fallow for 78 days. Is it ok the leave my rock and sand in there too for those 78 days?
Yes absolutely, after the fallow period your rock, sand, inverts and corals are all good!!

Just remember parasites come in on everything including snails and corals.

So dont put anything wet in your tank or you need to restart your fallow period.

So i should take out all my snails and conchs???

You can definitely leave them all. Velvet and ich cant feed on anything but fish. So everything else is all good ;)

Parasites can makes homes and lay dormant in and on inverts and corals but eventually they have to feed.

So they can stay dormant and come back after the 76 fallow period?? what the heck....

No no no....I'm sorry they dont stay dormant for that long. That was my bad on improper english.

Here is a pic of the life cycle. By dormant I meant they are in the egg cycle. (TORMENTS)

They can survive as the torment (egg) part of their life for quite a while hence the word usage of dormant. So they aren't dormant they are just in the process of hatching and finding a new host. This process takes a total of 6 weeks for velvet and up to 72 days for the 1 super strain of ich.

Once the fallow is complete you technically should be clear of both parasites in your DT.

So actually forget the spectrogram and just use furan2+kana+metro?

Because Spectrogram is a combined two into one pill, it's much easier to dose. But you do lose the Metro.
Cool. Im gonna use the trifecta. Is it cool to dose all three at once?

Here's the dosing schedule to help keep things organized:

Dosing Furan-2, KanaPlex, and Metroplex....

Make sure you dissolve the powders in a bowl of tank water before pouring it in! I'd recommend dosing one at a time, waiting a few minutes between each medication. If you've never used furan-2 it is going to turn your water green. It can potentially make reading an alert badge difficult but, as long as you seeded your qt, you'll be doing good sized waterchanges and should be fine. Also, you'll probably want to run a powerhead aimed at the surface of the water. Airstones will also aid in aeration. It is very important that you follow this for a minimum of 10 days, even if the fish starts looking good beforehand. Just like with humans you never want to end antibiotics too early.

Day 1- all three
Day 2- furan-2
Day 3- 25% waterchange THEN all 3
Day 4- furan-2
Day 5- 25% waterchange THEN all 3
Day 6- furan-2
Day 7- 25% waterchange THEN all 3
Day 8- furan-2
Day 9- 25% waterchange THEN all 3
Day 10- furan-2
Day 11- 25% (or more) waterchange

If you need to go 14 days-
Day 11- 25% waterchange THEN all 3
Day 12- furan-2
Day 13- 25% waterchange THEN all 3
Day 14- furan-2
Day 15- 25% (or more) waterchange

What if the fish i saved show no bacterial infection? Should i just run this treatment anyways?

The theory is to be safer than sorry. While in Quarentine it isnt bad at the end to treat.

TTM is great for this as you can use the last day or 2 for the treatment and then right into the display.

Since you havent been using TTM and show no signs it's really up to you ;)

So i guess i spoke too soon... my angel is not going to make it. Is it the velvet? Not sure what i did wrong....

I'm sorry to see this :(

By chance did the copper go above therapeutic levels?

If you have another QT you could put him into fresh tank and see if he starts to come back.

I did go over the therapeutic levels. Its around .6-.7. Im afraid of going below the that level. And i dont have another tank.

I wouldn't think that level would do it. I kept mine at .8 but I also didn't/don't have a butterfly.

Any help/ideas @Big G
