Out hippo had ick and it just wouldn't go away. So we set up a quarintine with cycled water and moved him over. Its been 5 days and he has most of his color back, ick is gone, has on large white spots and just lays on the bottom breathing, swim up and down rarely and won't eat. Not sure what to think or do at this point. Dosed with copper and all levels are good. Any input is welcomed?

Can you post photos of the large white spots? Could be Lymphocystis (no big deal) or a secondary bacterial infection (another problem).

Also, what brand of copper are you using and what is the Cu level? Is the fish eating?

Maybe not a large white spots and with the flash (thought it was off) maybe some ick is still there. We are using cupramine, it's at .25 ppm

What kind of circulation/aeration do you have going in there? See this thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/oxygen-while-using-meds.258949/

Also, I would get the copper closer to 0.5 ppm to be sure all the free swimmers are being eradicated. The downside is this may add to the appetite suppression you are seeing. :(

It's a 20 gal with a wheel fliter. I added a small powerhead to get the water moving. We'll try to get the copper up.

Try adding garlic to his food to entice him to eat. Was he eating prior to being placed in QT?
