So, my Reef Octopus HOB-2000 stopped working. I had it from before my sump upgrade and was waiting for a good reason to change. So, I ordered an in-sump Reef Octopus, the essence one. Today it will arrive.
So, today also the HOB magically started working again. Must have been a clog I missed that finally broke free on its own. Not in time, buddy, you are still leaving the party! But, it got one last one over on me. Because I had shoved the collection cup so deep in futile hope to collect something, the suddenly active protein skimmer, operating on an under-skimmed tank, went nuts. Dripped all over the back, but my gutter assembly on the rear floor paid off by catching all that. However, I then had to mix up a bunch of replacement saltwater to stop the return pump gurgling. A fine reminder of why I am ditching HOB, working or not.
By the way... Anyone need a perfectly wonderful Reef Octopus HOB-2000?
