His body got very dark, hard to tell. But I could lift his gill and it was red inside. The white on his body looks more like loss of scales
 
I don't think your fish had Mycobacterium marinum, but just you mentioning it as a possibility means extra precautions need to be taken!

So sorry for your loss =( I was pulling for ya. (Phrasing BOOM) gotta have humor at times like this.
 
Read this.... scary stuff! Never knew fish tb existed (and you can contract it from your fish!) until today. Hopefully it isn't what he had. I have seen many fish diseases but this one was one I had not... why I posted this thread.

We all say to be careful to ourselves and others, wear gloves and all that, but in the end I think most of us don't even think of it when rushing to save our little friend. Myself included!

Hopefully this thread will help someone else ;)
 
My dad got an infection (from an open wound) while cleaning his tank. Took 4 months of antibiotics to completely go away.
