I have a beautiful white spot bamboo shark. Last night he started loosing control of his body... When he try's to move, his body curls up in a ball and he goes belly up. He's alive, feisty and wants to swim but can't...
I was thinking maybe a vitamin deficiency? Or the only other think is that I had him in small tank for feeding purposes and I cleaned out the filter sponges and possibly upset the balance of the tank??? He is small yet. Was only eating Mysis Shrimp so far. Sometimes he would eat and sometimes he wouldn't... He's on the skinny side... I got him to lay straight for pic. Any ideas to help him? I think he's going to die.... :0(

laying upside down... Fighting whatever is wrong...

If its not your water, I think its starving. I hatched one and feed it raw squid. I'd dangle a skinny little leg in front of it. I left the skin on for the scent. I hope this might help.

So far he will only eat the Mysis... I tried Krill & Squid... Someone told me that maybe it's an air bubble in his belly? I don't know... I just hope he hangs in there... I'll try the Squid again. I have some in freezer.

Ok well, the 24 Nano I removed him from is/was at:
1.021 salinity
.78 to .79 PH Low...
.1 Ammonia
0 Nitrite
No Nitrate reading... No tester

Tank I moved him to:
180 gal
1.023 Salinity
8.1 PH
.1 Ammonia
0 Nitrite
No tester for Nitrate...
Puppy ate it lol!!! Love my puppy... Lol!
Shark status is the same... Keeps turning belly up but still alive. Won't eat yet. He ate 1 or 1 Mysis yesterday. Didn't eat for 4 days prier but ate like a pig before that. When he stopped eating in big tank, I moved him to small tank to hand feed him and watch him better... I did notice tail but off on blood shrimp in small tank so it's possible he did that lol! That would mean he ate something I didn't see lol

He's currently laying upside down on bottom of tank. I have him confined in a netted box so he doesn't get picked on... I have a couple Triggers that like to go after the sick ones in the tank... Wasn't sure if they would hurt him in current condition...

If they are like other sharks I would get some current blowing on his face. I've never owned a shark but assume they all need to keep moving in order to breathe. Hopefully this helps him pull thru.

I don't see him breathing anymore... His gill would move in & out and you could see him breathing but now,....
I'm thinking he's almost done...
I'm also thinking he wasn't eating enough... He looks really skinny now... Maybe because he's dying...
:'o(

I agree... Weird part was that when I got him he was eating like a pig... Then he all of a sudden stopped eating... Then yesterday he ate a little but for at least 4 days or more he didn't eat... This is my third try with a shark... I love them but I guess I am not experienced enough to have one... I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...
Stingrays do great with me but not sharks... :0(

Maybe he swallowed something he shouldn't have, and so has a bowel obstruction...I had a fish go downhill like that...and the fact that he flips over kind of adds to my suspicion, because it would cause gas buildup.

If it dies and you can, I would send it to one of those fish-necropsy services so maybe you can figure out what's happening to them.

I think I just stink at raising sharks... But you and my fish expert are thinking in the same direction...
He did pass away about an hour or two ago... :0(

All good. Probably better off... I'll stick to easy fish that I can provide a good life for...

Question... As I'm new to this site, why does my post here have a star in top right side? Is that something I did?

I heard that babies are especially difficult. Why not try one that's a little older...maybe one that's outgrown its own home and needs a new one?

I saw one at my LFS that was definitely past baby...I wonder if he still has it...
