Any help on whats wrong with my tang. Ive had him 3 months and he has always ate extremely well and never showed any sizes of illness. I havent added anything in a month and no other fish seems affected.

He now hides but comes out to eat and it looks like scales hanging off, not the small white spots that are normally associated with ich. It just showed up today and its on both sides and just above his pectoral fins

He looks nice and fat! I can see the spots, but not clearly enough. You’re right, too large for ich. Coming on overnight like that is a concern; means it isn’t Lymphocystis (not a serious issue). If it were just on one side, it could be an injury, but not on both sides like that. It isn’t flukes either.
Do you have a quarantine tank?
Jay

As long as the spots don’t get larger and it is still eating well, I’d leave it be, be ready with the 30 gallon though, in case you need to treat it with a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Also hard to see but agreed kinda resembles Lympho. Make sure water quality stays tip top and should subside on its own. Like Jay said wouldn’t be bad to get the 30g ready just in case!

Thanks for the replies. This is my first salt tank so im trying to learn what to be worried about.
