I have a vrolicks wrasse that has been laying on the bottom of my tank and been very unresponsive the last few days. I don't see any obvious signs of ailment other than his lifelessness. I think he's dead and reach in to remove and he swims away....

He is in a 40g breeder with a clown, flathead anthias, one fire fish, and one small tomini tang.

I did tt and prazi when I first got him 6+ months ago. Other fish are doing fine. I have seen him swimming at times, not nearly as often as seeing him laying on bottom.

Did I mention he is FAT?

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

The behavior certainly isn't reassuring. Even though he is fat and laying down does he still try to eat? It is possible he has an intestinal blockage and it will solve itself, but other than that, the prognosis doesn't look good.

My experience when they do this they're a goner. I have long suspected internal parasites but I cannot be sure

I haven't seen him eat. I've been feeding this tank a ton to make sure the flathead gets enough to eat. He was just swimming in circles after I fed. I couldn't tell if he was trying to find food or what. He was a normally very aggressive eater and he normally hunted nonstop. Very concerned about him.

Can you post a photo of him and his fat belly? :p

yes a picture please!

I tried but he's rather uncooperative. I wouldn't say it's just his belly, but he's thick. I feed enough that my P is .19 with heavy skimming >.< I've got two bipartius and one potter's wrasse in quarantine so these guys get all the leftovers that they don't eat.

Sorry it's a frag tank I don't maintain well. I'll scrape the wall and try to get better pictures tonight.

No bulge. Just was looking at frag tank and he's swimming around like he wasn't on deaths door for a week.. Didn't treat anything.

I had a leopards wrasse that did this same thing. Lasted for about a week and died. :( Hope yours can pull through

He could have been constipated and finally passed whatever was blocking him up.
