Anybody out there with these tanks and would be so kind to measure the side glass thickness for me? I tried searching online and the 425 is supposedly 3/8" but I can't find it confirmed somewhere. About the 525 I can't find anything about the side glass.

Thanks for the help!

Bump...someone owns these out there...help a reefer out!! :)

Just measured the side glass on my 525. 1/2”

That seems like bad design to me. You would think same thickness all around.

Just cutting unnecessary costs and keeping the weight down as much as possible. My custom tank has different thicknesses but for other reasons. Eurobracing and 3 sides are 1/2" and the bottom and back panel are 3/4".

Not really - the thickness required has to do with the height and length of the pane. For the front and back the length is the limiting factor so you need thicker glass. For the shorter side pieces you can use thinner glass and keep overall costs and weight down.

Heyh I have a 425 XL too. Reef Noob is my name and my build thread is The Reef Noob reef2reef. Kinda use up a certain amount of resources for the dream tank so yeah. WE ARE TANK MATES
