Help. Not even sure what this fish is. Hubby got it for me Friday. Has been fine until today. Came home. Bottom of tank. Rests upon things. Or begins to float flat on its side. What do I do?!

It's a Sailfin Tang... Lets start with water parameters. Test PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate.

Is this is only fish and has he been eating?

Is he breathing fast? Do you have enough water circulation at the surface of the aquarium?

No not only fish. Maybe a bit of fast breathing.
pH 7.8
Nitrate- 5to10
Nitrite-0
Ammonia-0
Salinity- 1.025

The water parameters look good overall. Have you noticed any aggression? Has he eaten in your care since Friday? Hows the surface water flow?

No notice of aggression. Yes has ate. Good water flow, but I did just up it more to the surface. I have a rosebud anemone and hammer coral. Could they have maybe stung it? Other that that idk what in the world is going on. All was well

It's now floating nose down-tail up. Could it be like a swim bladder like gold fish? Sorry. Fairly new to issues.

The anemone sting is possible. I zoomed in on the photos you posted to see if there was any visible signs of disease. In the photo reposted below looks like something funny is going on around the gill area. Can you double check and post some more close ups?

His left side is clear. Hes now caught under a rock and that's all I can see, under it gets enough energy to try and move around again to check right side.

Many fish come to us very sick but don't show outward signs such as with visible ich or velvelt. These fish can still harbor parasites in the gills, internally, or on the skin. For example, flukes conceal their vampirism until the fish is given a freshwater dip. Check out this video:

If these arent the issue would this kill it?

Your tang is in bad condition. Not sure he'd survive a FWD at the moment. It could very possibly be an anemone sting or something else. I'd first check out the right side of his body just to confirm there are no visible signs of stings or disease.

I'll try and get it to move, but it's by the anemone now and I dont want it to float to it, and my net would get caught on rock. As soon as I get more pics I'll post them. Thanks so much this far everyone

He looks beat up on the side of the first picture. I'd shut off the light and keep in the safest spot of the tank and keep a close eye on him at this point. Try and keep the stress level down and hope for the best.

It has HLLE, possibly other ailments. Is it breathing quickly? Do you quarantine?

Flukes are possible. I don’t see definite spots but I think I see some. Are the smaller spots almost like a dusting on the fish?

LOOKS VERY DISTRESSED AND AGREE ON hlle WHICH MAY INDICATE LACK OF NUTRITION AND vitamin deficiency.
What foods are being fed in your tank?

Frozen brine shrimp, new life spectrum marine formula, and coral frenzy. In the back of my biocube I have chemipure, a little slice of PURA filtration pad, acurel nitrate reducing pad, algone, and PURA phospolock. I bet it's the chemipure. You think?

Possibly nitrate/phos reducer and the diet is lacking tangs needs.
I recommend garlic soaked brine shrimp, Nori seaweed, mysis shrimp, Frozen diet such as LRS or rods foods, formula 2 flake, and Plankton
