Side table protein skimmer

Hey guys,

Is there a protien skimmer, kinda like a HOB style, but one that could sit on a table next to the tank, kinda like a canister filter. I know a canister filter and a protein skimmer are not the same thing, but kinda looking for a protein skimmer that is similar to a canister filter in that there is a hose coming from the tank, the unit itself then a hose going back to the tank. I don't have a sump and moving the tank far enough away from the wall to get a HOB skimmer isn't practical.

how big is your tank? external skimmers will overflow.

There are safeguards for that. Full cup float switch. Optical sensor shut off. Davy Jone’s locker. I’ve never used and external but that is a problem that can be fixed.

I wouldn’t take the risk unless I was ok with an overflow.
