Hello guys! im curios about the story of the signatures Acropora, and understand it better...

Here in italy, and i think in Europe, we usually follow lot of american stores with special Sps as the Walt Disney Tenuis...

what is a signature Acro? what's their story?

which are the most importante shops that have signature acro? and which are the best signature acro that you know?

I'm not 100% sure but, I think the idea used to be that a nice SPS would be named and, grown out and sold among others hobbyist. The idea being the name would have value as the coral itself would be hardier because, it was grown in a reef tank and was used to aquarium conditions while keeping its color. At least I think...

Now, from what I see locally and on the web, importers are looking for clones of "designer" corals. I see a few outfits selling wild corals as designer corals, that you used to be able to trace back to an original frag. I feel the coral market is inflated right now and it's bound to pop sometime soon.

My take is that a signature coral is a basically a wild caught coral and or maricultured coral that has blossomed in vendors aquariums under nice 20K lighting that has been named and the price inflated.

yeah it sound like it. But i also saw some great collections of super corals.... so probably you are right, you pay an inflated coral but in that shops you have usually a great choice of fantastic corals....

it look like a Marketing idea, anyway... There are some corals that really got the name as the signature, like the microclados strawberry shortcake, or the echinata icefire... the tenuis walt disney...

which are the most know "designer" corals?
