I am waiting for my nano overflow box and i need it to run silent after looking over many designs I still found issues. Sure these would make it quiet but not silent. So I came up with this idea let me know what you think. I will start testing when I get it.

The guy I got my tank from had a single drain with the U on top with an airline hooked up to it and I believe that was near silent. However you have to consider that the second drain may pull water faster than the main U tube from the tank? Ie if you have 2 drains larger than the main one , it may get imbalanced . I would suggest whatever you do , you put a gate valve on your main drain. Best thing I ever did I adjust it regularly and I have a similar setup. Without the gate valve it would be noisy. With the gate valve I can keep that water level between the two levels of your drain indefinitely and that's the real key.
Basically I don't see any faults with your plan, except the gate valve is imo absolutely necessary to balance the pump .

There is a valve on the main line. The main drain should run at full syphon thats where like 95% of the water should go. The second will be open to air unless the water level gets above the running level. Its pretty much a bean animal without the 3rd drain.
Right, that's exactly what I have except the tank is drilled. Is the main valve a ball valve or gate? Ball valves are notoriously difficult to maintain, hence my strong suggestion to make sure that valve is a gate valve
