silent ozone reactor with sponge

My reef Octopus ozone reactor is so loud so I placed a sponge to absorb water hitting the acrylic plate. Now is is completely silent. I wonder if it is safe to place a sponge in ozone reactor. Anyone knows any good mod? Thanks!
