Ok, that was click bait, but I have a serious question related to a weird infestation in my silicone on my glass tank.

What are these spots and why are they breaching the silicone barrier? Should I be worried?

Here is what I know. I recently disturbed the sand in an effort to even it out. Is it sand particles?

I tried wiping them off with a paper towel, but they seem to be IN the silicone.

Algae? Fish or snail eggs?

Not sure what it is but if it’s permeating the silicon I would be worried. There was a thread on here recently about a similar issue with a members tank, you could actually see little boreholes in the silicon made by something.. let’s get some more eye’s on this #reefsquad

I dont think they ever figured out the cause in the other thread. But i would keep my eye on it if it gets worse you may have to reseal the tank...

What's the difference between resealing the tank and buying a new one? Seems like the hassle is just as bad as a complete aquarium crash.

Resealing the tank seems like.. total fail.

If thats clear silicone it looks pretty white. Maybe something wrong with it.

By all means its def easier to buy new if you have that option. If not lots of peeps reseal tanks all the time without issues.

Are you sure they are breaching the silicone? Almost looks like algae. Do you fish that may be taking food off of it making the marks
