Silicone exposed to UVC.

I have a UVC tube in the back of my AIO tank. it is just a tube light and isnt housed inside of anything. purchased from amazon. Is there risk of it degrading the silicone that holds my tank together?

I did this before, that raw uvc is hell to anything that the light hits. I'd either shield the bulb or toss it in the trash.

What are you using it for? It's a risk to human health to have loose UVC

it is surround by blacked out glass and then i have filter floss above it. so i think its safe for all inhabitants and people. but wasnt sure if there was some kind of chemical that could be easily broken down by uv light over time

I cannot be sure how much degradation may take place, but it would mostly be at exposed edges because the glass itself will block the UV if there is glass in between.

I have a Auqa Shield UV Sterilizer Desktop - Innovative Marine with just the bulb dropped in the back chambers in my Fiji Cube 22. The top is covered to prevent light coming out. Do we have any more opinions on this subject on whether it destroys silicone or the equipments itself? My UVC bilb houses with the skimmer and heater.
