hello all

I have a reef running and the overflow didnt have any baggle to keep the fishes flowing to overflow and then going to sump. This would stress my fishes and sometimes also tear their fins.
I decided to adda baffle to my overflow
So here is the catch
1) overflow is of glass and baffle is of acrylic
2) i used coraglue and also feviquick but to my disappointment it didnt worked
3) used silicone to make it work and gave it a support to cure

So here is the problem....

Usually silicone takes 24 hrs for curing but being a running reef tank i cant wait for 24hrs without chiller and sump.

So can i start the overflow within 3-4 hours ?
Will the uncured silicone cure under water with time ?
Will the uncured silicone leach and go to sump and will goof up with the skimmer ?

It has already been 2 hours and now slowly the temperature is going up. Soo another 1-2 hours and ll have to start the overflow

Help and replies much appericiated.

What kind of silicone did you use? If you do have to put the system back on I would have some water made up for a water change and also some carbon if you start seeing adverse effects in the tank.

Thank you very much been 18 hrs and system is running fine
Will be doing a big waterchange today. Yesterday changed the carbon and will do it once again tomorrow ....

next time, if it does not work the first time, get an epoxy hardener from LT, put the silicone in little cup with the hardener and mix it up before you apply it..
this will make it set within a hour..
