quick question; I’m building a stand and was told I should silicone the seams where the wood joins to seal it from any water. Can I use silicone that is MOLD and MILDEW resistant? My buddy told me not to due to chemicals? Can I use silicone that’s mold/mildew resistant? Or should I find one that is not resistant?

Thanks for any help

If it’s going in your sump and will come in contact with the water circulating throughout your system, do not use silicone that’s mold/mildew resistant. It does however sound like you are planning to seal your stand to prevent spilled water from coming out and onto your floors. If that is the case, the mold/mildew resistant silicone sold at most home improvement stores will be okay.

I used non treated silicone on all seams of the whole bottom of the stand. Then I used a can of flex seal paint and painted the whole bottom up to 2” above where water would be held in.
