Hi All,

Ive had this Red Sea Reefer 425XL for two years now and just noticed the back silicone appears to be separating from the glass. Unsure if this was always like this. I reached out to Red Sea but wanted to get your thoughts. Something of concern?

Is that the black plastic or actually the glass? I can't tell in the pic.

One of my tanks is an AIO, and the silicone on the black separator has a few wonky spots, but since it's all in the water, it really doesn't matter.

It is the actual glass on the seam where the side and back connect. Red Sea offered a response that it is more than likely due to their tanks being hand built and it is nothing to worry about. I'll be keeping my eye on it for sure though.

Thanks TJ

Should be fine. The tensile strength of the silicone is higher than you think - especially for the "horizontal" pressure exerted to it from the physics of the water pressures on the perpendicular pane. If you ever tried to remove old silicone from glass you know what I mean - directly trying to pull it out is hard enough, but trying to "slide" it across the glass is nearly impossible.
