GE silicone 1 is commonly considered aquarium and reef safe - it is important to use GE 1 and not GE 2 (type 2 has a mildew additive). I have used it on several tanks (both freshwater and saltwater) without issues. Does the yellow wipe away? It could be some type of diatom or algae. Additionally, have you done any dosing that would cause staining on the silicon? Although not common, this is not the first time I have heard of this happening.

I have had this happen on a few occasions with clear GE1. I’ve found no acceptable explanation for it. Good news is that it has not been problematic for me. I wouldn’t worry.
