I've just gotten the return pump started on my new system. The return pump is connected to the hard plumbing with a piece of vinyl tubing, because that's what I was able to easily get a hold of. It's quiet, but there's still a noticeable hum from the sump due to the pump vibration.

Does silicone tubing do a better job of dampening vibration than vinyl?

my guess is that it's noticable if you are paying really close attention, but that it won't completely silence the issue
like going from 40 db to 37 db for example

I put my return pump on a silicone hot pad to isolate it from the glass bottom of the sump.

Thanks, but the pump already stands on ~1" tall suction cups. The vibration is being transmitted through the tubing to the bulkhead.
