Hi guys. Started the hobby nearly a year ago and all has gone very well. Recently I have had some cyano. I have done WC very sparingly as all has looked great. My plan is to start doing 25% monthly.

My question is that now this time of year my rodi water will run close to 80 where I keep my tank at 78-78.5. This time of year it does creep up to the 79 range during the day as my wife usually does not keep the AC as cool as I like it.

If my tank is typically 78-79 will that 80ish water have a negative effect on a 25% percent wc? Will be changing 20G of about 80G total system volume. Wondering if I need to go through the effort to cool the water prior to WC.

Thanks

1 degree doesn't sound bad to me but I do always keep a water bottle in my freezer in the summer for issues like this. If your worried about it then just drop the unopened bottle in your water change bin for a few mins

I am constantly bugging my wife to turn the ac on during the day btw! She gets cold so fast but the fish are hot....

With a 25% water change using water that is one to two degrees different from the tank water you would only impact the tank by 1/4 to 1/2 of a degree. Unless you have something that is highly sensitive in your tank then this shouldn't be an issue. Good luck!

always preheat your salt mix

When I do water changes I always pour the new water into the sump. If I'm doing a larger change I let the sump get fairly full then turn the return pump on and slowly continue to pour the remaining water in.
