Ok. Long story..
Bought "dry" live rock. Turns out it was infested with literally thousands of vermetid snails.
So, I went nuclear... Smashed a couple thousand and cleaned the rock.
One week in bleach solution and pulled.
Smashed any remaining tubes I could find. Blew off with compressed air and allowed another 10 or so days to dry.
Mixed up some saltwater (RODI) added rocks and dechlorinator.
Been a few days and it smells like sulfur now. (Normal according to what I've read)
Questions are:
1: Is it done dechlorinating? Sulfur smell is from bacteria, indicating no more chlorine, right?
2: Can I add my starter bacteria to this water? Or should I change it and start with new water?

1. Yes

2. Yes

Oops... danged autocorrect. Sulfur... Not silver...
Your answer to question #2 is yes... To which part? Lol.
Do I need to change my water before adding the bacteria?
Or will the rock seed just fine without a change?

I know Prime has a sulfur smell right out of the bottle which is normal. Can’t say about any other brand as that’s all I use.

The 10 days drying out would have taken care of the chlorine, but you did the dechlorinator soak, like I would have done.
I do know that Prime does stink in the bottle so it's not a indicator that it's done the job.
If it were me, I would rinse one more time and add water and bacteria and a ammonia source.

Ok. Dang it.... Guess I shouldn't have mixed salt for dechlorinating then...
I'll chalk it up to a learning experience.
Will change the water tomorrow and do a 4 gallon change on the biocube. Hopefully pull some good cultures from that.
Will also throw my used filter sponges in the tub as well.

Or.... Is there any reason I shouldn't use the recently dechlorinated water?
I mean.... The point of the dechlorinator is to make it safe for fish, right? What am I missing?

I guess I assumed you would use rodi water for starting up a new tank.

It was RODI water. Only reason I used the API conditioner was to remove any latent chlorine from the rock.
To be clear, this water is only for culturing the rock. When I fill the tank, it will be with fresh RODI saltwater mix.
Haven't received the tank yet. Will probably be a few more weeks, so I figured I would get a jump start on culturing.
When I set it up, I will also be adding some coralline live rock to help seed the recultured dry stuff
