Hey! I currently have a 10 gallon that was originally filterless and slimmer less. I know have a ac70 with some rubble and chemipure and ac50 impeller. And two Koralia 240 with wavemaker. Tank is over a year old and doing great! Coral are all showing signs off growth.

I want more real estate for coral or maybe another small fist (currently two clowns). I wanted to hear what you guys think of going to a 20 long and keeping things as is.

I do 2 gallon water changes a week.

What light would you use?
How would do swap tanks?

If you are using the AC HOB filter couldn't you just move it to the new tank to cycle it? I used to do that all the time with FW tanks if I needed a QT in a hurry. It was pretty much instant cycling.

I have a new tank that I'm still cycling. Just "new" LR, heater, and flow. Added Dr. Tim's and ammonium to get it started. It worked good. You could probably do something similar, then move the HOB over once it's cycled and add your livestock.

Alternatively, you could just keep both tanks going :) That seems to be my preferred option.

I would like to have as many as I can but this would go in place of the other one. I live in an apt and this is just a small upgrade for more corals. I would like a reefer 250 but can't right now. If possible I would like to transfer everything over with just new live sand or go BB and add more rock.

If I can do all this within an hour or two, use the water and add another 10 gallons of water I should be alright. What do you it's think? I'm currently researching.

I went bare bottom with my new tank. If you transfer everything at once you'll have a lot of new water. Plus losing all the live sand, which may play a role in your tank's nitrogen cycle. I think research is a good idea. If you are literally replacing one tank in the spot of the old one the quick transfer may be your only option. Just try to get the new water as close as possible to the parameters of the tank water ;)

Recently a buddy gave me his fully stocked 75g and he lives five hours away. Everything pulled through even with a big addition of new water. So it definitely can work!
