Hi,
First post. Just joined from another reefing forum. I kept ending up here when researching stuff, plus it looked cooler. So just wanted to share a FTS. It's a year old. No sump or skimmer. I recently had to start dosing 2 part. I think the derasa clam is probably the biggest Ca/CO3 sucker. The day I took this I had just bought that blue wellso on the bottom right. It's my favorite, and might be the reason I upgrade to a 75 by the end of the year. Anyhow, here it is:

The wavemaker on the left.....
1. What brand is it?
2. Do it have a magnet that will hold it on the outside of the glass?

Welcome to R2R! That bubble coral looks amazing. Can't wait to hear some more about your system. How are your parameters with no skimmer? How many fish do you have?

Hi Jay. It's a Sicce. It does have a magnet. It's an 800 gph voyager I think. Great pump. Very quiet, and the propellers are covered on the inside so you dont have to worry about anemones and such getting blendered. Only downside is it's pretty bulky.

Thanks! I have the 2 or 3 I don't remember at this exact moment. It's very neat. Goodluck!

OBX, awesome!! where about? I pulled the hob skimmer when I went on vacation. I wanted to make it as simple as possible for the guy watching the tank. That was 3 months ago. I haven't checked nitrates or phosphates since, but I've been meaning to. I'll let you know when I do. I only have 3 fish right now. Clown, Midas blenny, and a lawnmower. My favorite purple firefish just died last night from a swim bladder issue :(

Moved the setup to a 40B. Went barebottom. Decided to keep it sump-less.

I've had some parasites problems, so I figured it would be a good time to go fallow.
Left the fish in the 29 gallon with the sand and a couple softies.
Do you guys have any suggestions on the best way to reintroduce the fish when the time comes?

How long have you had them in that setup? Just the powerheads and heater in there?
Just did this yesterday. Powerhead, heater, lights, sand and some xenia/kenya trees. Also left some snails, hermits, the cucumber and a sand sifting star.

Wow you dont notice how things grow when you stare at them every day. Here's an update on the tank about 10 months later.

Beautiful!. Amazing what you can keep with minimal filtration and careful livestock choices!. Curious to know phosphate and nitrate levels? Is it lit with T5 + LED?

Thanks Nate. I dont have a reliable test for nitrates/phos as I dont check for them. I found an old test strip that read 20 nitrates FWIW. I put a quad 24" T5 with some ATI bulbs and a current orbit led strip I had laying around as an experiment. Used to have 2 chinese black box led. It's been around a month now and the T5s are staying for sure. Gotta say almost all corals are "puffier" and growing well. Without the fans or overflow the tank is whisper quiet as well.
