I have had a simplex colony growing forever now (super slow grower for me). Doesn't help when I first got it I dropped it on my floor and broke it into like ten pieces. It started off a deep purple (after coloring up for about a month) with white polyps and stayed that way for the longest time. One day when doing tank maintenance I bumped it and broke another branch and about a week later I notice a green streak and spot coming from the broken area. I was sort of excited and though it was cool. Fast forward about four months today an now almost the whole thing is neon green, there is streaking and swirling in the green but my iPhone can't pick it up. The new tips grow purple but the green quickly swallows it up.

My question is, what does this green fluorescing protein use to grow and spread and is there a way to slow it or reduce it? It's extremely bright and cool looking but I liked the deep purple too. I'll post a pic later.
