Can I hook up Schedule 40 pipe to a Simplicity Pump? What kind of fitting would I use? I like to use this set up, as I can Tee off a valve, to run an accessory. IE go thru UV Sterilization.

I use simplicity pumps and the thread pitch is different than standard NPT fittings. This means you will either need to use a ton of teflon tape (it will work to hold water and not leak, but looks like crap) or you can use the largest barb, attach a small pice of hose from there to another barb with a standard pipe fitting on the end.

If going with the first option, I think it is a 1.5" threaded pipe fitting that attaches to a 1600 series and a 2" that attaches to the larger ones. Been a long time since I used that setup for a temp mixing station.

I would suggest the second option, as it provides a clean look, will not allow water to leak past the fitting (if not enough teflon tape) and it will also reduce noises from the pump making its way through the hard piping. This noise includes a little pump whine and some vibrations. Both of which may be very quiet, but get amplified when running through longer pipe runs.

Side note: Spa-Flex is available at almost all big box hardware stores. This will fit over the fittings that come with the pump and they can also be glued into standard PVC fittings. It is also more rigid, but still provided some vibration dampening. This may be the best route for a short section, so you can clamp one end to the pump and then glue the other end to a PVC fitting and run the rest of the pipe from there.

The threads on our pump output are BPT. You can use NPT (USA threads) however as stated this won't likely seal well, and feels "wrong" when tightening it up because it is.

Our pumps are only designed for internal use, so a few drips shouldn't matter much when its in the sump.

The short piece of vinyl is a great suggestion as it isolates vibrations and can make the system quieter.

Do you mean BSPT? BPT is a Bridgeport Fitting on some of the Older Fire Hydrants. Over 50 years ago had to use an adapter on some of the Fire Hydrants, so our Hoses could be hooked up.

This is the Fitting I received from McMaster-Carr, to attach my 1-1/4” PVC Pipe and Valve assembly to the pump.
