also dont do this - the aquatic ld50 is thc is not known - you could end up killing or making your corals/fish stoned or possibly kill your whole tank

If you’re looking for alternate methods, does anyone have experience or advice regarding clove oil? I’ve not tried but heard it works for freshwater fish. Would that hold true for SW?

eugenol (clove oil) works on sodium channels so should be able to peacefully kill SW fish
Lidocaine is often used as a euthanasia drug for many different animals

Definitely not water soluble, but alcohol (na) and fat soluble...
So concentrate laced food target fed perhaps?
It would be activated due to carboxylation...
But as you mentioned, LD50 is not understood in aquaria

I've read the precedure for the use of clove oil on saltwater fish. I forget where, but it is used for anestesia as well as euthenasia at different concentrations.

Voltage gated sodium channel blockers (clove oil, lidocaine, mepivacaine) are indeed the gold standard in fish euthanasia

death occurs in a few min and since sodium channels are blocked - the animal cant feel pain

I'm kinda partial to the sudden stop method. It's quick it's clean. You can tell their relatives that they went really fast and didn't suffer Sorry it couldn't be helped my smart butt side just sometimes can't be stopped
