I have a 40 gallon reef that's roughly a year old. I have noticed a single aiptasia for probably half that time. As far as I can tell there are no other aiptasia in the tank. I've been curious as to whether or not to try and kill that one. I've read up on aiptasia killing products and half the reviews say they work and the other say it only makes the aiptasia split and multiple. Any thoughts on how to handle this?

if you can get the one rock out thats best. I spent the week end taking out some rocks and chiseling the little buggers off. Used a razor knife. LR is pretty soft.
If your nimble you can set a 1/4 siphon hose next to the appy in the tank and then kill it with app x, vinegar or kalk paste.

Better remove it before it multiplies

Kill it with fire!!! Seriously though, if it's possible to remove the entire rock it's on, do that. I know it might seem dramatic for one aiptasia, but one becomes 100 very very quickly.

If you only have one touch it make it go in and use some epoxy put rite on top of it no need to pull the rocks or break them.

I tried this trick which I learned from YouTube and it worked for me. Heat some water in a microwave and suck it in to a syringe. I think I used a 5ml. Then slowly apply the hot water directly on the aiptasia using the syringe. The aiptasia will shrink and with a little luck will detach. You can then suck it right back in to the syringe. Good luck!
