I bought two clownfish 2 weeks ago at petco, both were black photon hybrids, unfortunately one died (I honestly don’t think that one was the same kind, but sales lady swore up and down it was) anyways I was trying to get the two I wanted and I think she scooped up the one that didn’t look to good to begin with. Unfortunately it passed away and now I just have 1 clown. Now do I really need to get another or can 1 clown be enough? My tank is a 13.5g Fluval EVO. I have 3 Chromis, 1 watchman goby, a pistol shrimp, a royal urchin. Snails, hermits and a clam. the clown seem to be doing just fine alone but I always see them in pairs. But do I really need to go buy another? Thanks

One clown often alleviates tank wars and can be a model citizen

I would probably get rid of either 2 or all 3 chromis, as others have said it is overstocked. Or go with a larger tank, 30 or 40 gallon at petco are cheap and easy to modify into an AIO.

Clowns do well on thier own, imo.
I have had this clown for over 6 years and it has always been by itself.
I do agree you may be overstocked in that small system.
I did have to move the frogspawn it lives in to the back of my 45 as it would bite me every time I was in the tank.
Now with the frogspawn in the back corner its perfectly happy.
Its been with the frogspwan for 5 years.

Lone female here. Male jumped many years ago. She gets along just fine and sticks to her hammer. Been a widow for about 6 years now. I actually have found they are more docile as a single then they are as a pair.

One is good enough. I bought my 2 clowns at least 8 years ago when they were the size of finger nails. I don’t think you need to introduce another fish.
