So I'll be starting my first " reef tank " soon.... More of a frag collection is more accurate however. I do have someone to look over my shoulder who is very experienced with saltwater tanks but I don't want him "doing it for me" I want to learn myself mostly. My question is considering I want less of a show tank and more of a tank to collect different coral. Should I start off with only one variety until I become more knowledgeable with the hobby? For example should I just start with acans or zoa's, Instead of having multiple different types of coral. Having a variety of acans is appealing to me I think that's the route I would like to go once I build my tank. However is there any complications to only having one type in a tank? Are there any benefits to haveing a single tank dedicated to one type of coral? Also any suggestions other that acans and zoa's thay I should consider? Any insight into this is appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice.
