Single head hammer stung pretty badly by goni

What do I do? I see a mouth with a little bit of flesh on it, around 75% mouth, but still there

My advice would be to dip it in Reef Dip, put it on the sandbed, and then all you can do is wait. I hope it pulls thru for you!

I’ve been reading through threads, people have been saying that would stress it out, is that true? Would a dip be safe for the coral?

I don’t think the Goni stung it. I have Goni adjacent to other corals and I have never seen them even try to sting anything

Hammers however are very aggressive and will sting neighboring coals.

My guess is the hammer is dying for other reasons.

No, I came home one day, goni on the hammer, hammer wounded where the goni stung it, the hammer then deteriorated the stung and wounded flesh, to then be picked up by flow
It was definitely stung, I moved the goni, did not think it would sting, this is on me

That's what I thought. But I'm not a gonipora expert. I have three now, and they play very nice close to other frags

My first guess in a sting battle, the hammer would win that fight.

I still guess that

Probably some euphyllia bacterial disease, that they get. Especially wall hammers

If it were mine, I would do a KFC dip with what I have on hand in another tank.

That may be true. Everyone has their own experience. Just keep an eye out for brown jelly.

This is generally accurate but gonis are capable of stinging and are even considered aggressive but mine have never done anything either. I think maybe other factors affected the hammer.

Nothing you can do, just wait and see if it heals

I got rid of this goni cause he was a serial coral killer, nothing could stand up to this gonni. Look at the stingers coming out of this thing (I think its a different species of goni). I had to get rid of this one.

I now have 7 goni's only the green one is a bit mean and has killed a couple of nearby corals. And he's growing so I'm thinking of getting rid of him too.

It was def the goni, because the hammer was perfectly healthy before, I watched the goni sting it, I put the goni next to it not knowing what they both sting…
So that’s on me, should I wait, or should I dip? But do dips cause stress?
Also am seeing new polyp growth, around 5-10%, should I turn off lights for today/until it heals so no algae grows on it?
And what dip would I use

Personally I would leave it, taking it out of the tank and dipping it will create extra stress. Leave the lights on like normal, don't change anything, any change is more stress to the coral.

Agree with this, I have 3 large gonis in my tank and have never seen long stinging tentacles like MOJO posted. They are in close proximity to other corals too. I have seen my hammer extend out to sting the goni though.
