Cliffs ...

Considering putting a 60" ati fixture over a 4' 80 and a 2' 30, is this a bad idea?

I have a deep blue 80 gallon and am considering plumbing in a deep blue 30 frag tank to the system. I'm due for some better lights and really want an ati 6 or 8 bulb with a couple reefbrite techs on the front and back.

I did a sketch of how it would look on paper (cause I'm old school like that) and it looked pretty good. I'd build my own stand and have a bunch more room for a better sump, ato / dosing reservoirs, electronics, etc.

Basically I'm wondering if this would work out well and save me a bunch of money, or would it suck enough to drive me to do it right with 4' and a 2' ati fixtures and 4 more reef brites.

Well assuming the tanks are right next to each other and you leave 3" inbetween them then you have a total of 75" to light. If the fixture is suspended above them so that it is centered you are going to have about 7.5" on both ends that wont have the fixture directly above them however the light spread should (i would assume) be enough to cover that anyways so IMO you would be fine.

Like so: (not to scale)
