I’m anticipating that one day my daughter will get tired of her 45 bow front fresh water tank. At that point I will steal it. It will be low maintenance. HOB overflow, 10-20 gallon sump, cheap lights. FOWLR. No sand. I fancy starting a single species tank. I would prefer to NOT have clowns or anthias. Any suggestions?

You may want to consider frogfish.

hmmmm.... that's a new one. arent they sedentary though? id like fish that swim.

LOL, so much for my next recommendation of a hermit crab colony! ;)

Puffers?

5 yellow tangs! Jk lol. I was going to suggest puffers also, I used to have a couple brackish leopard puffers in my tank that were tiny when I got them. I acclimated them to 1.025 and they did great. I knew it was going to happen someday but I ended up having to rehome them when my shrimp disappeared. I think they're fun to watch

I was just looking at Live Aquaria. I could also do a color themed tank like all yellow or all blue.

LOL. I almost asked if you had a color preference but I was concerned that it might be misconstrued as sarcastic! :)

What if your daughter wants a turtle, or a frog or even a snake?
We’ve had turtles. No frogs... too noisy. I love snakes but hubby doesn’t. I’ll just wait patiently. ;)

Rhinopias are cool.

Those two and a pair of breeding clowns. Battle Royale.
