I am going to start a new project tank (like I need another!) that houses a single species of SPS and stock it with gobs of small gobies. The corals dont have to be anything special at all. I am thinking tall slender acros would be interesting. I don't want tabling or cushion shaped SPS in this tank, I have plenty of those in my main display. I thought maybe something simple like a forest of green slimers might fill the bill. Might add one contrasting coral in the foreground like a shortcake or similar.

Interested and open to suggestions on tall, thin and open acros that you think might look nice in a species only group like I described.

Thanks Reefers,
Mark

p.s. Tank will be 24x24x20

How about a different color of A. yongei to contrast the green slimmer. (ie., blue slimer)

Its probably a good idea to have a fast growing acro like slimer since clown gobies will bite off the polyps on certain spots of branches to create nests.

Check out Leonardo's Formosa forest for some inspiration, pretty sweet.

Nice coincidence, I am about six months into my Montipora Digitata tank. Can't wait to see my Digi Forest mature over the next year or so. :D

Suggestion

How about hydnophora? They grow pretty quick and they are very bright and colorful which would allow for a big contrast between them and the one centerpiece coral.

This sounds like a cool idea if you are discipline, lol. When I started my 25 cube I wanted to have only 3-5 types of Acro and put frags throughout the tank as they grow. Well I'm up to about 20 different types, lol.

One big red planet would be pretty cool but it's a table.... the idea of different colored stags is a good one. Google Formosa forest, it's a good example

You want one species and the same color? Or thinking like a digitata or M. cap tank where you can get a large variety of colors but same species.

Search "Leonardo's Formosa Forest". Concept with primarily one type of acro.

Then you accidentally drop the extra-large bone shears and crush all 6 beautiful mature colonies :P
