Singlefin's 40b

Still zeroing in on the numbers. Defective test kits set me back. Should be good to go in a couple days.

Making me jealous. Will have to be a purchase for my 40B, some dosing pumps
What test kits do you use? Salifert on everything? I'm going to buy something better besides my old API ones.

I used the API when I first cycled the tank. Been using salifert. Just got a Hanna for alk and liked it, so I ordered a Hanna Calcium. Should be here in a week. Thanks.

When i use up my salifert phosphate, ill probably switch to Hanna. The salifert phosphate you have to match it to a color chart. I'm always reading 0. Not sure if its my eyes or I'm really at 0. That's one thing I didn't like about the API. Matching colors. Too much room for user error. I actually don't test phosphate as much as ca. Alk. And mag. Once this pump is zeroed in, hopefully won't have to test nearly as much. It's good knowing where your numbers are at though.

So would you say that salifert is good for CA, Alk and Mag? Since there's no color reading but Hanna would be better because its digital? I'm getting Hanna for phosphate and maybe Hanna for the others later on, if reviews on them are good.

Both salifert and Hanna are super good. I've heard mixed reviews with Hanna calcium. Ill try compare them. I'm sure the phosphate test is fine. Maybe it I had phosphates in my system, I could see how it works. Right now its still reading 0.

Some specs on my light:
12- 3Up's, 4- OCW's, and 6- TV. I have them in two clusters on a 24" MakersLed Heatsink with 4 Inventronics 40w drivers each having its own POT. This is over a 40B that is 36" long.

Driver 1:16 Royal Blue @ 700ma
Driver 2: 12 Neutral White @ 700ma
Driver 3: 4 OCW (4- deep red, 4- turquoise and 4- cool blue) @ 500ma
Driver 4: 6- True Violet and 8 Royal Blue @ 500ma
I got everything from ledgroupbuy.com
Except the moonlight kit which I got from rapidled.com

Two clusters. Grouping them together is supposed to prevent the disco ball effect. Looks good to me.

Top of the light. Made "temporary" legs out of 1/4" aluminum rod. Seem to work pretty good so they might make permanent status. You can see the 4 pots in back to dim/adjust them, which I never use once its set.

An rbta. the bubble tips arent very pronounced. it was in my 29g with inadequate lighting so it got huge reaching for the light. the tank leaked, so i had to emergency transfer it to this tank. it split a few weeks ago and seems to be doing ok. only one seems to be actively eating. its getting way better lighting in this tank. thanks

Finally got this guy mounted. Training it to come out during the day.

Added a 5th baffle to the sump. Didn't put it originally in case i wanted a deep sand bed in the fuge. Don't think i will ever do that. Now the water pulls from the bottom before going to the return pump. I have a huge ball of chaeto and it looked lime it was getting stagnant at the bottom. Had to clean the detritus out a couple times already. Chaeto grows great. Will see how it does now. Theres a good current pulling right through the ball of chaeto.
