Do sinularia shed like toadstools? My sinularia has shrunken up and looks like it's shedding. I've had this coral for a year and have never seen it do this before. It's been like this for a few days now.

Here you can see some dark discoloration, almost looks like algae, and a film coming off of it.

Here's what it looked like before:

It does look a little better today than yesterday. Should I be worried? Everything else in the tank looks normal. I did do a dose of Chemiclean last week to get rid of some cyno. I really need to do another dose, but I'm hesitant with the sinularia acting up. I've never had issues with Chemiclean before, but I can't remember if I had the sinularia the last time I used it or not.

Like leathers they do shed. As long as water quality is good, you should be fine. They do like a little Iron in their water

The chemiclean does upset corals. They can shed like most leathers, but if the tissue turns grey or black it’s not a good sign. That could be tissue necrosis.
