Ok guys so im really new and i bought a hb overflow and it made a hell of alot of noise so i tried all kinds on things and nothing got it quite enough for the wife:frusty:. so i then tried a siphon strait from the DT to the sump and its been working great took a little test and adjust with ball valves but i got it flowing great! And its silent tooo!!!!:thumb: which made here happy
Im just curious to know if anyone else has tried and done this.

Have you tested it to make sure it will start back up let's say after the pump was shut off and is there a way to stop the the siphon if the power goes out so you don't drain your tank and overflow the sump

here are some pics. yes i have made siphon breaks but i have yet to find a way to get it to start the siphon on its own when the power comes back on any ideas would be welcomed i'm looking at maybe a batter back up for the return pump for that reason

and if next question is why is my skimmer going bad i have the valve open on the return bytw its only a week old tank

Is yours tank tamper glass. If not two hole on each corner, one for drain and one for return. This's how I did mine for the 200gallons tank.

And how did you do the drain? And does the drain make loud noise like a bathrub draining that was the issue with mine

I did try the overflow and it didn't do a good job cleaning the tank. The way I did it has helped out a lot keeping the tank clean.

It depend how you adjust the return valve. If you have 3/4 open on the return there is no noise at all. The way I did mine I don't have to worry about a flood at all.
